Last Update from Camp Ramadi (Hopefully)

July 25th, 2010

7 Days left till I am out of the Desert of Peace Love and Happiness and in Kuwait. Have a lot on my plate when I get stateside. With 3 websites to redesign and make artwork for as well going to be a busy pup. Debating on doing some filming at Dragon Con and Screamfest but not sure if I will or not. Also at the moment talking to a few people trying to get a cast together for that as well as locations for filming for Warped TV and Shadow Wars. Shouldn’t require much in terms of sets but still need a place to film without being disturbed. As for adding to the cast looking at a few venues to get talent from for some of the other items like Shadow Wars and The Independents. Key concern is making sure we have a group of people that get along and without any drama. Need people that can mesh together well and actually contribute to the over work effort. Right now largely looking for volunteers since right now not in a position to pay people and be able to finance the first movie. That being said at least with Shadow Wars and The Independents we can list people and give them credits on IMDB.

Still learning more about the Itunes distribution model for Shadow Wars and Warped TV. Still want to do the initial episodes on Youtube and migrate over to Itunes once we get a fan base. With any luck maybe we can get on SciFi since they are scraping the barrel for movie ideas I mean come on Sharktopus? That being said half to see what happens when I get back. Till then I will try and add another update to Blood Thirst and tinker with some scripts for the Shadow Wars webshow.

Cheers,
Wolfe

Updates for 6 June 2010

June 6th, 2010

Well things are back on track sorta here at the Warped Mind Productions. When we lost the interwebs in the room so I have been unable to do any updates or anything else productive internet wise. However that being said I was able to work on the Blood Cult and Fallen Angel scripts. Fallen Angel is already into the end of act II and Blood Cult is finally in Act II and progressing nicely. Depending on how much longer it takes to work on them I should be able to bounce back to the Independents as well. I feel kinda bad that I have slacked on that one. Also whenever I take a break from the two scripts I also tinker with some of the shorts for the Shadow Wars Youtube series.

Also I need to finally get another WKILL podcast uploaded. I did get some interesting feedback on the faux news updates posted on the Blog for the site. Once I get stateside the plan is to put actual pictures into the updates. That should add some spice to the stories as well. Once the Youtube channel is up might put a few quick shots but that is a matter of seeing how things pan out.

Finally if things go as planned I should be stateside in August around the 8th. I want to hit the ground running so to speak and get the Youtube channel going. That means there will be a call for volunteers and other assorted miscreants and riff raff. already talking to a few friends that run a comedy podcast and thinking of partnering with them. Between the us and them we should definitely manage to upset a lot of people but in a good way.

Brief Update

June 3rd, 2010

Due to our local internet being taken down I’ve been off the grid for a bit. Will post some updates later this week.

First Update for May

May 6th, 2010

I went back and re-read the “Fallen Angel” story I wrote and then like a lightning bolt from the heavens it struck me. “Fallen Angel” would be the perfect story to do as a film even though admittedly I would have preferred to do it as an arc for a TV series(If the Dark Gods had willed such a thing.). One of the issues I am having with this is the fact that it takes place over 7 years after the first movie I have scripted “Town of the Dead”. I don’t want to screw up like Lucas did with Star Wars as a friend warned me. It may sound weird that but in a way I have been looking for my inner muse and when this hit me I had to start working on this script. Of course this means stopping in mid-act 2 of “Blood Cult” and 3rd Act of “The Independents”. That being said this just feels right however to go with this idea. Going over the initial beatsheet that I did for the script and started thinking in terms of costs and locations required for filming. Even casting would be relatively cost effective since we do not need that many people. Special effects as well would not require a lot. A few torn throats and gunshot wounds would be all that is required. My only real problems would be what genre it falls into since it straddles the horror and sci fi genres due to certain aspects of the story. Also if the information in the short story could be translated to film without causing the viewer to become confused or too bogged down with details. Either way I am hoping people give me some feedback on the idea so I can see what others think might be wrong with the story and make corrections as needed.

Random Updates for the end of April

April 28th, 2010

Greeting everyone, been busy with the day job so I really haven’t had the time to work on story updates like I wanted. I have slowly worked on the latest installment to Blood Thirst however I want to make sure that it fits in with the overall story and not take off in a direction that I had not intended. I joke about the whole ADHD thing but when I am writing I do tend to have the habit of going off the course I have outlined for a story. This is kinda what happened with the Watcher in the Window and from reading what I had written so far I can see myself drifting off the path once more. So as I review what is written I will rein myself back into what I had planned. Besides reviewing what I have written in Blood Thirst I have also decided to work on Beat sheets for Town of the Dead, and The Independents this way I can go back and look over what I did for so far on both scripts.

I did just get the Bamboo Fun so I am going to hazard trying to do some graphics for the websites. I do need to design some logos for both Shadow Wars and WKILL. Though I do intend on sprucing up the WKILL reports with actual photos once I get back to the states. Couple that with the Youtube channel and we should get some quality entertainment going. Either way that is the update for now.

Shadow Wars updates and musings

March 31st, 2010

Well folks it is that time for an update. Been busy with the day job so I have been slacking in terms of Warped Mind. This is one of the reasons the website itself still has not been made to look better. Which brings me to something I have been debating on doing? I was writing a Shadow Wars Lexicon as I worked on the various stories and material for what we hope will be an entertaining series of shorts on YouTube as well as DVD movies. It dawned on me as I was talking to a few people back in the states that perhaps a Wiki style page devoted to SW would be better. At the moment fleshing out on paper what would need to be done to make an effective Wiki page and one of the things I am considering is doing it as an extension of the Shadow Web page to be complete with *user* comments on the entries. Still reading up on it and how much work it would entail. Though in honesty it will be a dry read till I can get some pictures and such up onto it. Everything goes as planned in 4 months we can start filming on the web series and as we do that we’d have multimedia to upload to that portion of the site. This would of course cause an explosion of data so to speak as more and more references are built.

This leads up to the next part regarding the YouTube series. Gonna start looking for volunteers in the next few months so we can get this ball rolling finally. We will need people to run the gambit from Thrill Kill Gang members to Forseti Police Services Goons. This will also include the people working in the background as well. If you are considering a job in the film industry it would not hurt to jump on board. It will give you material you can use for your reels/portfolio as well as hands on experience. The idea for the Series is to produce 10 minute shorts to upload onto YouTube. That being said the positions are not paying ones to include myself. Doesn’t mean there won’t be things done to take care of the cast and crew like food and the other things. However that does change when it comes to the films. Those will be paying jobs. Right now we want to get the initial ground work laid out and get together a decent crew to that works well. If you are interested and live in the Philadelphia area shoot an email over to careers@warpedmindproductions.com with what you’d like to do. The key phrase people, is that you need to live in the Philly Area. Looking to work on episodes for about a few hours a week so your time investment is minimal. Also some of this material will end up on the WKILL website as well since it does tie in. Regardless this is the update on what is happening let me know what you think.

Cheers,
Wolfe

Updates for March

March 17th, 2010

Okay been doing my best to shuck off this malaise I have been feeling. Part of it was finding out that I would not be going on vacation back to the states in April and the other part was making a very hard decision. The decision revolved around cutting a few people out what will be going on. Sucks but it had to be done since they essentially were not pulling their own weight. That being said as I get closer to August I will start posting some stuff on the careers board as well as on a few other sites as well. I won’t be attending Film School till October so August and September I do want to do some Shadow Wars and Warped TV material.

Now Boys and Girls here is some news updates for March. Right now working on the final chapter for Watcher in the Window. Trying to wrap it up without making it seem rushed. Still working as well on Blood Thirst though I am not sure how far I will be going with the story. The WKILL site is still a work in progress though the Blog/Kill Board will be active and a new podcast will be uploaded roughly once a week. Eventually the plan is to set up a separate podcast section on the WKILL board. The normal Warped Mind Productions podcast will continue in August once I am stateside and can do a proper one. With the new internet access I can upload the WKILL podcasts but can’t do the new format for the other. So for now when the WKILL podcasts get uploaded notification will come from the Warped Mind Productions twitter account as well as the DJDotDeth account. As for the Killboard that will be updated on a weekly basis if not more. The Killboard will also elude to events in the Shadow Wars Universe that will be used for the webseries as well as the films.

With the new internet access in my meager hovel here in Scenic Camp Ramadi I should be able to start updating the site and get my ass to work cleaning up the websites. Just a matter of time management for me which with my normal ADHD addled mind is never an easy thing. Either way that is what is currently going on around these parts.

A New Year and New Beginnings!

December 30th, 2009

Well a lot has happened over the past year some good and some bad. Overall things are chugging along like a fat kid chasing a donut downhill. Sadly had to cut a few people from the Warped Mind crew due to various issues. That being said this is a new year and looking forward to recruiting more people to be part of the dysfunctional family that is Warped Mind Productions. Anyone interested signing up for the mayhem should send an email to careers@warpedmindproductions.com for further information. Mainly recruiting for Warped TV at the moment to be up front. Since that is easier and a bit more cost effective to do in the grand scheme of things. Not to mention it will be a blast to do. We will be doing some recruiting/info sessions in April and yes there will be beer. Maybe if we get enough people together and the dark gods are willing we can do a few skits. Time will tell on that however.

Working on the WKILL website right now and trying to figure out how best to set it up. In April, should have some new photos to put up for that site and the current plan is to put some into the blog reports as a nice touch. WKILL Podcasts will also be forthcoming on a more regular basis as time goes by. Also there is a possibility come summer that DJ DotDeth will have others working with him as well. That all depends on what happens but as time progresses I will post the proper updates and everyone know what is going on in that front. Also there is a Blip.fm account for DJ Dot Deth and anyone that wants to follow it DJ DotDeth’s Blip page. Also our infamous DJ now has a twitter account as well at DJ DotDeth’s Twitter Page .

Shadow Wars is still progressing along in terms of the first two film scripts as well as the start of the webseries. Depending on scheduling for April might do a quick Q&A session to see who is interested in what. To use a term from Sam Raimi and Bruce Campbell there will be a lot of shemping going on. For those not familiar with the term it just means that people will be doing multiple roles when possible. For example I might play the role of a Forseti Goon while wearing a face mask. Others might include someone playing the role of a victim of an attack where their distinguishing features are obscured.

To sum it up there should be some interesting things forthcoming. So I wish you all a happy New Year and hope that it brings you many exciting changes and new beginnings.

Wolfe

Updates 14th of December

December 14th, 2009

Been a bit since I posted another blog but trying to get a lot accomplished with the tools and time at hand. Also I have a lot of thinking to do regarding the status of certain people that had come on board to help but quite honestly have failed to pull their weight.  More than likely I will have to cut them off the team so to speak and allow for someone who is more than willing to put the time in to come aboard.  At the moment looking towards January to start fresh and have a production schedule and budget in hand to start working on Town of the Dead.  Also entertaining ideas for a WKILL website with a blog and podcast. A lot of people seem to like the idea behind it. Regardless this is gonna be a short update as I have a lot of thinking and work to do.

Cheers,

Updates 20 November 2009

November 19th, 2009

Well with a new website in the works and new ideas for things it is almost the beginning of a new year. At the moment the website is in a flux. Since I am using IWeb for the moment till I get the new Windoze Laptop and install dreamweaver the site will be a tad screwed up. There are still more sections I have to pop in as time goes on. However until the replacement laptop gets here I am kind of stuck at the moment. Everything works out the new one will get here before December and I can get back to work on that. Okay first off want to mention some things about Warped TV. One thing right now that I am mulling is how to staff the Warped TV show. What I am considering is recruiting volunteers for the purpose of staffing. While that means no pay at least those people looking to get a career in film and television can put it on their resume and have some footage to show for it. As for the direction of Warped TV it would be best to sum it up as a cross between Troma’s Edge TV and Attack of the Show. There would be skits as well as honest reviews of various items ranging from Tech Goodies to Movies to include direct to DVD films.  The important thing for the show is that we have a good working crew. Everyone has input on what is going on and everyone contributes. If you are interested and in the Philadelphia area shoot an email to careers@warpedmindproductions.com with your info or reach me at Wolfe4086 on AIM. Looking to get that started around August but could do a few shorts in April when I am stateside. As things progress I will be posting info on what we are going to do about Shadow Wars and The Independents. So this is the weekly update and I promise I will get back to work on the stories this week as well.

Wolfe
