Procrastination and a New Year approaching

Well a new year is fast approaching like a pod of belugas going to the Chinese Buffet it was time for me to think about some things.  I have been procrastinating on a lot of different things. Between the website, scripts, stories and other assorted things it seems I have been spinning my wheels. After some soul searching and debating I have finally decided on a course of action. Some of the projects are being placed on indefinite hold. Shadow Wars the series namely and it will have to wait till I can get the proper resources to properly create the vision I have for the project That being said I will still work on the Shadow Wars short stories and get started on the new storyline “All Debts Repaid in Full” starting in January. The Independents will have to suffer as well since some of the people I had in mind for casting have been cut out of my life for one reason or the other. It does hurt a lot in some ways since the project means a lot to me and I really want to do.

I got some decent feedback on the Kenny B videos I did and I want to do more with that character. Granted Kenny will need a reboot once I find the right person to take over for the role. This is because quite honestly I want Kenny to be a bit more out of shape and part of my plan for the New Year is make a serious effort to get back into shape. Being in reasonable shape and playing the role of Kenny won’t work since part of the amusement factor of the character is that he is an overweight gaming nerd with delusions of being a great zombie killer. Also need to branch out and get others to play the roles of Kenny’s friends. Also come the New Year I will switch to scripted Kenny episodes and do away with the improv way of doing things that I tried out in the past.

Now for the exciting news for the upcoming year. I have two projects that require minimal resources to start. The first of which will be titled Outbreak 2012. This will be a zombie apocalypse survivor video blog. The initial posts on the Youtube channel will be the survivors from different locales explaining what is occurring in their location. From there as the story progresses hopefully we can get the cast to go out into the real world and *Explore* looking for other survivors, supplies or safe havens. I got a really good feeling about this particular project and believe it will go over well.  The second project will be a podcast. Still up in the area about the name since it will be multi-genre and also branch into video games and comics as well. I am still looking for more people to possibly co-host the podcast with and need to work on the logo and site a bit as well. The podcast itself will be biweekly for now. Regardless the New Year will be a start of good things

Cheers,
Wolfe

PS:

Go to the youtube channel and click like on the Kenny B videos and feel free to comment.

We’re on the interwebs!

Well at least Kenny B is at the moment. That’s right the first of many Kenny B videos was posted up on Youtube for everyone to enjoy. So go to http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7Y3zshJ1gZY and enjoy the madness of Kenny B. This week I will be creating the official welcome video for the channel as well. On top of this the Zombie survivor blog will be created. You can read about the chaos at http://warpedmindproductions.com/ShadowWars/ Hopefully by this time next year we’ll be settled into our new location and able to get even more filming done to include Warped TV.

The websites are still being worked on though admittedly at a slower pace than anticipated. This is partially due to the fact that we need custom graphics for the various products and also trying to learn how to code sites on the fly. As the graphics get finished we may post them over on the facebook page http://www.facebook.com/pages/Warped-Mind-Productions-LLC/258295270865362 and have people comment on them. The first one to be down will be Shadow Wars since that is the biggest and admittedly most ambitious of the projects we have. Then it will be followed by the Independents, Warped TV and finally Zombie Warz. Either way this was a long overdue status update.

Trying to get things moving once more.

Right now pondering some things that I need to get started on. Between finishing the stories that I have been procrastinating on and getting a new one started I feel lazy as hell. I need to finish Blood Thirst and Watcher in the Window soon so I can move onto Unfinished Business. Last Days of Bunk 138 has kind of stalled since I am trying to decide how to go with it. Unfinished Business is in a skeletal outline stage right now and I am looking forward to get started on writing it. Also I am looking at the wiki code for the site and trying to figure out how to get started on the entries.

This leads me to the next item I need to work on. Both the Warped Mind Productions, WKILL, and CorpseKillers sites are in dire need of being revamped. Trying get used to using my Bamboo tablet to create the custom artwork. The forums will be tweaked as well. Just as fast as I can read the documentation regarding theme creation and such. I am not fond of the idea of being a code monkey but I need to do this so I can feel better about how things are progressing.

Still debating on how to progress here in Canuckistan in terms of recruiting people for working on the Youtube Channel and Podcasts as well. That is going to be a bit of a challenge here since I only know a handful of people here and most are an hour or so away from here. I will be filming the zombie survivor video blog and have four episodes planned so far. Hoping to do some other things as well like movie and video game reviews but need to do some research on that and get my hands on some green screen equipment for working with final cut and adobe. This way I can add footage from things being reviewed in the background as one of the crew or myself is speaking about it. Realistically that won’t be till fall which I will hopefully be in film school during that time and making more contacts for getting these projects moving.

All in all hoping to get things moving once more.,

Update for the end of March

Been a bit since I last posted any kind of real updates. A lot has gone on since the short update I posted in February. Been inspired to work on yet another short story called “Unfinished Business”. This will only involve on of the previous characters from other stories and focus more on the lifestyles of those that exist within the Shadows and the dangers they face. Not sure how long the story will run in terms of chapters and currently I am in the process of skeletal outline. Hoping to finish out Blood Thirst and Watcher in the Window before May. Also will be adding more to “Last Days of Bunker 138” once the other two are finished.

The Warped TV channel will be starting up in early April. The first show lined up is a zombie survivor video blog. This will hopefully mature and expand as time goes on. On top of this there will be the occasional video game/movie review and commentary on various things in the entertainment industry. Trying to talk to a few people back in the states about contributing to the show as well as get a few people here in Canada in on the mix. One of the reasons for the delay on this is due to the fact we were having camera problem with the XL-1 units and the firewire connection. For now we will be using the Sony HD camera, Flip camera and both laptop’s built in cameras to film some sequences.

Also the websites will be getting some major work done as well with hopes of being completed before summer. Got the editing station put together finally so I can have an easier time reviewing changes to the HTML and CSS sheets not to mention creating graphics.

Either way things are coming along slowly,

A long awaited update

Okay folks been some time since I have did one of these and have a lot going on. Since I’ve been back from the Sand Box there are a lot of good things and bad things that have occurred. One of the good things is that I have finally met that special woman in my life that I can relate to and have things in common with. One of the reasons I left for Iraq was to clear my head and get away from the rather toxic dating environment that is Philadelphia. The suffering of 4 long years paid off and instead of just settling for someone by dating outside of the Goth/Industrial scene(No offense to my friends outside of said scene.) I got lucky and met her. So now that I am with her that part of me that was lacking is now complete and I look forward to spending eternity with her provided the dark gods allow it. As for the film school thing I had to put that on the backburner for the time being. As much as I’d love to take a year off of working and attend a proper school sadly the realities of life do not allow for such things. On top of this the Philadelphia Job market is lacking in positions right now and currently I have been looking more and more at moving to the Toronto Canada area since the GF lives there and for some reasons I am listing in the next paragraph.

I have been stalled on work for Shadow Wars right now. Since I have come back I have been disappointed in how small the local Goth/Industrial community has gotten. Very rarely are the clubs as packed as they used to be back in the hey days of the scene. Asylum and the Bank had a far greater attendance rate than the clubs today. I understand people change and other move away but you’d think that a decent size core group would always be there. That being said I am debating on filming the web series up in Toronto since the club scene there is far more vibrant and still going strong. I know some people from the Philly area are going to be offended by this but sorry just how I am looking at it. Granted I am already aware of the headaches I am going to have to deal with since the Canada government is a bit more left leaning in some regards. I may have to work on getting a business license just to import Airsoft weapons for filming but that is later down the line in the grand scheme of things. So until such time I am out of the area I will start working on re-vamping the WKILL site and finish the other two Shadow Wars scripts namely “Fallen Angel” and “Blood Cult”.

Now for the Independents. I still really would prefer to shoot and film it down here in Philadelphia. Certain people I have in mind for casting are far to perfect for the characters and it would be a disservice to what I envision to be a fun movie if I opted to just film it elsewhere. Honestly I do need to finish that script as well and right now trying to work out a schedule for when I will work on the script as well as talk more to the people I want to cast in it. One I get decent first draft of the script done I’ll go over it with the people involved and get their input into it. In a way this movie is a bit of therapy for me in a sense. Since the overall message is that you should find something you love to do and follow through with it. Don’t listen to the naysayers and such who only want to restrict you and hinder you from making your dreams happen. I see this now so as I said this movie is a bit of therapy for me.

Warped TV got put on hold unfortunately due to the fact we don’t have a location to shoot it. Yeah I can shoot it in the house but not happy with how that would look and would prefer a different locale for it. Not to mention I’d need a decent amount of space to do it right since some of it involves video game and movie reviews which requires a decent TV along with proper lighting. There is also still a matter of finding people that would work together as a cast and crew for Warped TV. It is going to be a challenge of finding the right mix of creative people that work well together and actually collaborate ideas. Either way that is the current update for now

Take care

Last Update from Camp Ramadi (Hopefully)

7 Days left till I am out of the Desert of Peace Love and Happiness and in Kuwait. Have a lot on my plate when I get stateside. With 3 websites to redesign and make artwork for as well going to be a busy pup. Debating on doing some filming at Dragon Con and Screamfest but not sure if I will or not. Also at the moment talking to a few people trying to get a cast together for that as well as locations for filming for Warped TV and Shadow Wars. Shouldn’t require much in terms of sets but still need a place to film without being disturbed. As for adding to the cast looking at a few venues to get talent from for some of the other items like Shadow Wars and The Independents. Key concern is making sure we have a group of people that get along and without any drama. Need people that can mesh together well and actually contribute to the over work effort. Right now largely looking for volunteers since right now not in a position to pay people and be able to finance the first movie. That being said at least with Shadow Wars and The Independents we can list people and give them credits on IMDB.

Still learning more about the Itunes distribution model for Shadow Wars and Warped TV. Still want to do the initial episodes on Youtube and migrate over to Itunes once we get a fan base. With any luck maybe we can get on SciFi since they are scraping the barrel for movie ideas I mean come on Sharktopus? That being said half to see what happens when I get back. Till then I will try and add another update to Blood Thirst and tinker with some scripts for the Shadow Wars webshow.

Cheers,

Updates for 6 June 2010

Well things are back on track sorta here at the Warped Mind Productions. When we lost the interwebs in the room so I have been unable to do any updates or anything else productive internet wise. However that being said I was able to work on the Blood Cult and Fallen Angel scripts. Fallen Angel is already into the end of act II and Blood Cult is finally in Act II and progressing nicely. Depending on how much longer it takes to work on them I should be able to bounce back to the Independents as well. I feel kinda bad that I have slacked on that one. Also whenever I take a break from the two scripts I also tinker with some of the shorts for the Shadow Wars Youtube series.

Also I need to finally get another WKILL podcast uploaded. I did get some interesting feedback on the faux news updates posted on the Blog for the site. Once I get stateside the plan is to put actual pictures into the updates. That should add some spice to the stories as well. Once the Youtube channel is up might put a few quick shots but that is a matter of seeing how things pan out.

Finally if things go as planned I should be stateside in August around the 8th. I want to hit the ground running so to speak and get the Youtube channel going. That means there will be a call for volunteers and other assorted miscreants and riff raff. already talking to a few friends that run a comedy podcast and thinking of partnering with them. Between the us and them we should definitely manage to upset a lot of people but in a good way.

Cheers,
Wolfe

First Update for May

I went back and re-read the “Fallen Angel” story I wrote and then like a lightning bolt from the heavens it struck me. “Fallen Angel” would be the perfect story to do as a film even though admittedly I would have preferred to do it as an arc for a TV series(If the Dark Gods had willed such a thing.). One of the issues I am having with this is the fact that it takes place over 7 years after the first movie I have scripted “Town of the Dead”. I don’t want to screw up like Lucas did with Star Wars as a friend warned me. It may sound weird that but in a way I have been looking for my inner muse and when this hit me I had to start working on this script. Of course this means stopping in mid-act 2 of “Blood Cult” and 3rd Act of “The Independents”. That being said this just feels right however to go with this idea. Going over the initial beatsheet that I did for the script and started thinking in terms of costs and locations required for filming. Even casting would be relatively cost effective since we do not need that many people. Special effects as well would not require a lot. A few torn throats and gunshot wounds would be all that is required. My only real problems would be what genre it falls into since it straddles the horror and sci fi genres due to certain aspects of the story. Also if the information in the short story could be translated to film without causing the viewer to become confused or too bogged down with details. Either way I am hoping people give me some feedback on the idea so I can see what others think might be wrong with the story and make corrections as needed.
